She is seen as a strong character and many view her as a feminist hero.
She was played in the films by Carrie Fisher.
Darth Vader
Darth Vader is best known as a Sith Lord but started life as Anakin Skywalker, a Jedi.
He was listed as the 3rd greatest villain in cinema history by the American Film Institute in June 2003.
Han Solo
Han is the captain of the Millennium Falcon.
He was played by Harrison Ford in the original Star Wars trilogy.
Luke Skywalker
Luke Skywalker is the main protagonist of the original Star Wars trilogy. His parents are Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala.
Mark Hamill portrayed the adult Luke.
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Also known as Ben Kenobi he is mentor to Luke Skywalker and introduces him to the ways of the Jedi.
Alec Guinness played Obi-Wan and in original Star Wars movie earned an Academy award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. This is so far the only Academy Award acting nomination for the series.
Yoda
Yoda is one of the oldest and most powerful Jedi Masters.
He is well known for his distinctive style of speech. Yoda’s voice was provided by Frank Oz, best known for his work on The Muppet Show.
Stormtrooper
Stormtroopers are the main ground force of the Galactic Empire.
Boba Fett
A bounty hunter and the pilot of the spaceship Slave I.
Rey
Rey is the main protagonist of the sequel trilogy. The character appeared in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi and will be seen (possibly finally) in The Rise of Skywalker.
Finn
Finn is first seen as a First Order stormtrooper in The Force Awakens.
John Boyega played the role of Finn in the movies.
Kylo Ren
Kylo Ren is the chosen name of Ben Solo, the only son of Han Solo and Leia Organa. He trained as a Jedi but has moved over to the dark side of the Force like his grandfather Darth Vader.
The Emperor
Sheev Palpatine was initially credited as the Emperor and Star War is also known as Darth Sidious (his Sith identity).
Chewbacca
Chewbacca is a Wookie from the planet Kasjyyk. Han Solo is his friend and he is the co-pilot of the Millennium Falcon.
R2D2
R2D2 is a droid robot. R2-D2 stands for Second Generation Robotic Droid Series 2.
C-3PO
C-3PO is a humanoid droid robot from Tatooine. Anakin Skywalker built C-3PO.
Maz Kanata
Maz Kanata is a female former pirate and smuggler. She is over 1000 years old and manages an interstellar tavern on the planet Takodana.
BB-8
A droid robot, first appearing in the 2015 movie The Force Awakens.
Porg
Porgs are a species of bird found on the planet Ahch-To.
K-2SO
K-2SO is an Imperial security droid. He is co-pilot to Cassian Andor.
Supreme Leader Snoke
Supreme Leader Snoke is the Supreme Leader of the First Order. This is a military dictatorship looking to control the galaxy.
